Sabtang

Today I toured Sabtang island. It’s a smaller island south of Batan about 45 minutes by boat. Our boat carries freight and passengers too. Freight today was 110# bags of rice (20), cases of soda, and beer. About 20 guests got on and off using a bucking gangplank. The seas were rough to me (5-6ft waves) and landing was exciting. The island is known for its stone housesPhilipines 2012 4 005 (Small) and the Ivatan culture. There are some serious headdresses that make you think of Farrah Fawcett   Philipines 2012 4 015 (Small)Philipines 2012 4 016 (Small)

We had lunchPhilipines 2012 4 042 (Small) of lobster, pork, fish, rice, cabbage all served on a leaf

There are some amazing overlooks on this island complete with cows and goats. They all are great climbers. Philipines 2012 4 022 (Small) There was an 105 year old guy and this 87 year old ladyPhilipines 2012 4 008 (Small)

I’m leaving tomorrow morning for Manila by air, then Bagio by bus. It’s 5 hours and $18. A delux direct bus with first class seating.

Bagio is in the mountains and will be colder
